Exhacienda San Gabriel de Barrera

The areas that were once dedicated to the extraction of precious metal ore have been made into seventeen beautiful gardens, each with a style all its own.
The Queen's Garden owes its name to the visit of Queen Elizabeth II in the 1980's.
The English Garden is characterized by its properness and its tall, austere trees.
The Mexican Garden's agaves, biznagas, and spiny cacti give it a special touch.
The Jardín Rincón de Beatriz, or Beatriz's Alcove, owes its name to a charming legend.
Legend of the Ex-Hacienda San Gabriel de Barrera
There is a legend at the Hacienda known as the Legend of Beatriz's Alcove (in Spanish, the Rincón de Beatriz). The legend holds that Beatriz, the wife of hacienda owner Gabriel Barrera, was quite given to fancy, and when she went to her special alcove she would say to her husband: "My love, I'm off to my favorite spot, my oasis of peace and rest, where my body is refreshed and my soul takes pleasure.
But other times when Gabriel was asleep, Beatriz left their bedchamber so as not to make a sound. And when she came to the balcony of her alcove, she would say the reverse of what she had said before: "One must pleasure the body and refresh the soul."
